A Message from the Commodore
July 2008

Ahoy sailors!

Here we are half way through the year. I hope you have had a great racing season so far. I have.

The Beer Cans are half way though as well. But don't be sad: Think about it like a glass half full, right?! For those of us who have not done so well, now is our chance to catch up and redress the situation. After all, from the last 5 races we had, we can throw out three!!! So it is in everyone's best interest to perform extremely well in the upcoming 5. Good luck.

No matter what your position in the overall standing is, please remember: nothing is worth taking dangerous risks during the starting maneuvers and causing yourself and others harm and ill feelings (let alone the disagreeable process of a protest hearing…!!!) PLEASE, spare yourself and others, and don't forget: this is all for fun!

This month, we are all looking forward to the Commodore's Cup. If you have not done it before, try it this year: you will love it! It is not only a race, but also a week-end fun party as well.

Our membership renewal period is here and if you have not yet renewed your membership, please do so. We have had some problems the past 2 years keeping up an accurate count and record of membership, but we have the full intention to put everything right and up-to-date by the end of this month (July 31st is our deadline) and we need your full cooperation. Once all is in order, we will be sending you up-dated inserts for your CRA booklet (let us know if you don't have one) as well as your membership card and those cute CRA burgee stickers for your boat and your car.

Have a great Fourth of July and if you're moving about (by boat or car) please be safe.

Cheers,

Joe Saad
